HE LOVES YOU FOR WHO YOU ARE

by Stan C. Countz

Little boy four years old throwin’ spears at Orcs and Trolls
Takes aim as Gandalf the Grey fights the mighty Balrog
But the girls at his school don’t think he’s that cool
‘Cuz he likes games, golf, bikes and bullfrogs

Little boy thirteen -- I wish he could enjoy with me
A trip to the crick to play with frogs and pollywogs
If he did he’d see he isn’t yet what he’ll be
He’d see past the masks and the facades

Don’t mean to make a scene, but those chosen queens
Have been airbrushed, clipped and cropped
True beauty isn’t seen in those magazines
Or on TV, movies or in beauty shops

It’s not how we smile or how we nod or grin
It’s not found in a vial or in a bottle of gin
It isn’t rude or snooty and doesn’t care where we’ve been
True beauty comes from somewhere deep within

It’s not diamonds or pearls that wins the hearts of girls
It’s that chivalry that only she sees
It’s that inner poise and style that makes those boys smile
Not the sexy clothes, the pose or the tease

It’s too early to know what tomorrow may bring
The snow of winter fades into the glow of spring
A glowing cinder can grow into a burning flame
Through Christ we can do most anything

Young man twenty one, dreams of things yet to come
Got no plan, just out for fun, takes a ride, buys a gun
Tries to hide, on the run, starts a fight, police come
Some things can never be undone

Big cheese, big-time star; now he’s behind bars
Got caught with his hand in the cookie jar
They seized his assets and closed out his credit cards
Now he can’t find the keys to his car

Each snide remark leaves a scar
But Jesus sees us just as we are
He never leaves us the way we are
He frees us to be just who we are

The signs are clear; the time is near
The planets are aligned with the stars
Men’s hearts quake for fear so take your rear and put it in gear
‘Cuz even Christ can’t steer a parked car

He came to save you, not enslave you
Freely you've received; freely He forgave you
And gave you a brand new start
He gave His life and paid the price
So invite Him into your heart
'Cuz He loves you for who you are

SOMEONE I USED TO KNOW

by Stan C. Countz

Between the rainbow above you and the valley below
I thought I saw a shadow of someone I used to know
Was it sleeping deep inside you trying to guide you to the top?
Was it keeping you on course or forcing you to stop?

Where did that shadow go? Who knows? Who hides the key?
That someone I used to know grows deep inside of me
Her voice rings in my ears, her face is all I see
She laughs at all my fears as I cry myself to sleep

I keep trying to dry my eyes but all I seem to do is weep
She cuts me down to size and leaves me broken in a heap
Soon the moon will rise and the road will grow too steep
She’ll believe those lies and the knife will cut deep

Where did she go? Where could she be?
That someone I used to know grows deep inside of me
Her voice rings loud and clear, her face is all I see
She laughs at all my fears as I cry myself to sleep

Where did she go? Where could she be?
When will I know? When will I be free?
Time goes by so slow like an ol’ willow tree
That someone I used to know grows deep inside of me

Wolf in Sheep’s Clothes

by Stan C. Countz  April 16th, 2009

VERSE 1
Beware the gulf between those
Whose cup has enough and overflows
And those who misuse their faith
To fight their foes
Woe to those who strike a pose
Who hide behind their velvet robes
Cheat and think that no one knows
Beware the wolf in sheep’s clothes

PRE-CHORUS
He speaks of things above
But seeks the things below
He speaks of peace and love
But he’s a thief from head to toe

CHORUS
He hides behind his velvet robes
Cheats and thinks that no one knows
But he’ll reap just what he sows
He’s a wolf in sheep’s clothes

VERSE 2
The tide subsides, it ebbs and flows
His pride inside it spreads and grows
He slips and slides and so it goes
He’s a wolf in sheep’s clothes
He talks a lot of peace and love
But forgot that Jesus rose
The hawk sleeps with the dove
But he will be exposed
He’s a wolf in sheep’s clothes

PRE-CHORUS
He speaks of things above
But seeks the things below
He speaks of peace and love
But he’s a thief from head to toe

CHORUS
He hides behind his velvet robes
Cheats and thinks that no one knows
But he’ll reap just what he sows
He’s a wolf in sheep’s clothes

OUTRO
My lambs…. you better watch out when he comes to town
He seeks not the things above but he loves to sneak around
He seems heaven sent but he’s hell bent and hell bound
He’ll huff and he’ll puff and he’ll blow your house down
He’s a wolf in sheep’s clothes; he’s a thief from head to toe
He’ll reap just what he sows; he’s a wolf in sheep’s clothes
Baaaaaaah, baaaaaaah beware the wolf in sheep’s clothes
Aaaooooooooh, aaaoooooooh the wolf in sheep’s clothes
